A play in 14 scenes, looking at the life of Saint Francis of Assisi between 1212, when he takes his monastic vows, and his death in 1226. Happy in his faith and his good works, he experiences a crisis of confidence and faith when the Order begins to disintegrate. On Mount Alvernia he recovers his faith and, in religious ecstasy, he composes the 'Cántico del Hermano Sol'. He lies down on the ground to welcome death.
