Two sections of previously unpublished poems were added to the original work. 'Con las horas contadas': This section refers the biographical experience of Cernuda's encounter with Mexico as well as his last experience of love. An important part of the book, entitled 'Poemas para un cuerpo' is made up of sixteen erotic poems. In another group of poems Cernuda reflects on poetry. As the title suggests, there is also a premonition of death which runs through the book. 'Vivir sin estar viviendo' is a reflection on time. The poems nostalgically contrast the eternal beauties of nature with the ephemeral nature of human life.
